Shailey's Bridals

Shailey is great, and she has great hair. The type of hair that is SO easy to work with and will do anything I want it to :). That's why I was so happy when she sat down in my chair and basically said "yeah. . .do whatever you want". Love it when that happens! Thanks to Peter Loosli for the pics.

Workshop Part 2

The second concept for Julie Parker's workshop was inspired by Sleeping Beauty. Julie's daughter Wren (who is also a talented photographer) was the model.

Workshop Part 1

A few months ago Julie Parker emailed me and asked me if I would be interested in styling the models for her workshop this year. OF COURSE I WOULD! Julie is an amazing photographer and was kind enough to share some of her skills and knowledge with this lucky group of photographers -

The first concept was a vintage bride and groom shoot, inspired by travel. What a fun idea, right?? The model Alex was perfect for the part. She already has a pixie cut (perfect for finger waves) and she has nice, full lips (perfect for a deep red lipstick). Here's how it all came together -

Trends I love: Wedding hair trends

I don't know what it is about me that makes me so obsessed with bridal hair. I can't help it. Ever since I had my hair done in an updo for the first time when I was 12 . . . there was no turning back. I was doomed! (in a good way of course.)
I am loving where the bridal hair world is headed. Here are three of my current favorite trends:

Trend #1 - SIMPLICITY
I am a minimalist, which is probably why I like this trend so much. There is something so feminine about bridal hair that is simple and natural!

Trend #2 - THEMED
No matter what the theme - vintage, rustic, whimsical, glamorous . . . brides are using their bridal pictures as a time to play DRESS UP!

Trend #3 - TEXTURE

One thing to remember is that nothing will stand out in a picture as much as it does in person. That's why TEXTURE in your hair looks so good when photographed.
